Fundraising Students Demonstrate How Giving Back Is The Best Feeling

Students at Tollbar MAT Sixth Form College have been raising money for charity during their 'Twelve Days Of Givemas.' Organisers Liam Bryant and Manisha Bains are pictured with cakes baked by students to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

A spectacular 12 days of fundraising by Tollbar MAT Sixth Form College students culminated in a bake sale and raised money for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

The 'Twelve Days Of Givemas' has become an annual fundraiser for the students, who also collected items for three further charities - food parcels for Harbour Place, toys for Women’s Aid and animal food for Ark Animal Rescue.

Organisers this year were Manisha Bains and Liam Bryant, who said the students wanted to give back to the community in as many ways as they could. This included decorating tree baubles for Teenage Cancer Trust, nominating their favourite teacher, and designing Christmas cards to send to other MAT schools and the local community.

The students also distributed chocolate to the college community to say thank you to catering, cleaning and administration staff and Academy custodians for all the work they do.

Manisha said: “Charity is giving, and we wanted to give back to the people who may be not appreciated as much as they should be. We organised twelve different events to raise money and get into the spirit of giving back to the community.”

Simon Ritchie, Head of Sixth Form, said the whole college community had got involved in the fundraising organised by the students, including staff wearing their Christmas outfits to help raise as much money for the charity as possible.

The final total raised was £224.40.
