Sixth formers to receive ‘success package’
Support packages to boost success - including a free iPad and book vouchers - will be given to every Year 12 student joining Toll Bar Sixth Form in September.
The aim is to ensure they hit the ground running ahead of their two-year A-level courses at the New Waltham academy, said Executive Principal Philip Dickinson.
"We know that moving from school to Sixth Form is a major milestone," he said.
"To help students and their families, we are excited to launch our 'Set Up for Success' package. This is a dedicated support bundle designed to ensure students have every tool needed to excel from day one."
Toll Bar Sixth Form includes students from schools across North East Lincolnshire and northern Lincolnshire, as well as the adjacent Waltham Toll Bar Academy.
It has its own distinctive feel with a separate entrance, facilities and café.
Each Year 12 student in September will receive:
- An iPad
- £100 Waterstones voucher
- Sixth Form hoodie
- Stationery goody bag.
Mr Dickinson said: "The personal iPads will give students access to the digital resources and apps they need to support their studies.
"The book voucher will be a significant boost and can be used to pick up essential textbooks, revision guides, or any extra reading material.
"The high-quality, branded Toll Bar Sixth Form hoodie will ensure students feel like part of the community right away.
"The stationery bag will be packed full of all the essentials: pens, highlighters, post its, notebooks and more to ensure students will be organised and ready for their first sessions.
"We wanted them to feel supported, inspired, and fully equipped. This package is our way of investing in their potential before they even walk through the door."
Details on the delivery of the 'Set Up for Success' items will take place during enrolment, taking place from GCSE results day on 20 August right up to the first week of the new term in September.
Mr Dickinson encouraged Year 11s from schools across North East Lincolnshire and further afield to check out its first class teaching and learning environment. Individual tours can be arranged by emailing the address below.
"We are proud of our Sixth Form facilities and its small, community feel," Mr Dickinson said.
"Those transferring from the academy have the advantage of knowing their teachers while those who join from elsewhere are guaranteed a warm welcome and soon feel part of a special community."
