Dear Parent / Carer

RE: YEAR 13 MOCK EXAMINATIONS 2020

Year 13 Mock examinations begin on Monday 2 March 2020, and run until Friday 13 March 2020. These examinations are exceptionally important as it is the only opportunity students will have to sit the examinations under the same conditions they will experience in Summer 2020. As such, we would like to reiterate the importance of thorough preparation and revision in advance of the examinations.

We take these examinations very seriously. Students must be present, with all the equipment necessary for each examination, including two black pens, and any other writing equipment or specialist equipment as required. This includes calculators for those subjects that require them.

Pencil cases are not allowed in the examination hall, so equipment should be in a clear plastic bag or box. May I remind you also, that examination boards are severe in their penalties for students who bring mobile phones or similar electronic devices into the examination venues, so these should not be brought into the examination hall. Due to new regulations, wrist watches must also be removed and placed on desks during examinations.

All examinations are scheduled to take place in the Basketball Gym in main school, unless otherwise indicated on the attached Examination Timetable. Morning examinations begin at 9:00am and afternoon examinations begin at 1:00pm. Students must report to the examination hall 10 minutes prior to the start of each examination.

Students will receive morning study leave if they have an examination in the afternoon, but are otherwise expected to attend all lessons when not in examinations, including period 7. Due to the examinations, there will no assembly (period 2) or tutorial (period 4) on Friday 6 March 2020 and Friday 13 March 2020.

Your son/daughter must attend all examinations, except in cases of serious illness or other exceptional circumstances. If your son/daughter is unable to attend the Sixth Form College for an examination, you should telephone Sixth Form attendance on 07739326272. If students do miss an examination, they must go to the next session available in their examination schedule in order to catch up with the examination.

The importance of these examinations cannot be over-emphasised. With your support at home, and a good revision programme, your son/daughter should be on track to achieve their full potential in all subject areas in the external examinations that take place in summer 2020.

Yours faithfully
