Year 13 A Level Examinations
Following from my last communication regarding Year 13 Examinations on 07 January 2021, I would like to keep you informed of the current developments.
Last month the government announced that A-Level examinations would not go ahead in their usual format due to the current pandemic. On the 15 January 2021 OFQUAL, the examinations regulator, opened a period of consultation on how students’ grades will be awarded and this ended on 29 January 2021. OFQUAL produced an initial set of proposals for how A-Level students may be awarded grades and canvassed opinions on their proposals from all relevant stakeholders, including schools, teachers, examination boards, parents and students. The outcome of this consultation is expected on the 22 February 2021. It is expected that on this day, firm details will be announced about how your child’s grades will be awarded. Please be cautious of any media speculation about what these plans might be. Many media outlets have been suggesting different outcomes, but nothing has been confirmed and won’t be until the outcome of the consultation is made public. As soon as we know the confirmed plans and the implications for your child, we will inform you at the earliest possible stage.
In the meantime, it is important that your child continues to focus on their studies and fully engages in their remote learning. Students still need to focus on developing their knowledge and skills in order to equip them to progress to their next stage, whatever form that might be.
I understand that this is an evolving situation and we will endeavour to do our very best to keep you informed of these developments.
Support will continue to all Year 13 students who require guidance, including with applications for post-18 opportunities. If you require any further help or support please contact us via email@example.com.
