Long-serving Grimsby Magistrates Court District Judge Daniel Curtis visited Tollbar MAT Sixth Form College to impart his knowledge and encourage Law students into the profession.

After 14 years as a resident judge in Grimsby, Judge Curtis has also built up a strong relationship with the College, visiting Tollbar on a number of occasions to talk to Law students and to encourage them to visit the courts.

He said: "Today I have been telling the students all about the Legal Profession and how to get into it. I encouraged them to work hard and get the grades they need to get to university or college so that they can push themselves to get into the profession. We had an interesting debate about which side of the legal profession is the best one and what works best for the students, and they all seemed extremely keen to progress their studies and work their way into the profession.

"It is a very enjoyable part of my role as a Diversity and Community Relations Judge coming into schools and colleges to try to encourage students. I have a good working relationship with Tollbar and I have encouraged and had students from here visiting the court. We have just had a discussion today about offering work experience for the students who are keen to go into the profession and are looking at the judiciary as a possible option."

Richard Foster, Deputy Head of Tollbar MAT Sixth Form College, said: "We are always very grateful to Judge Curtis who has visited us on a number of occasions and given our students very valuable advice about the Legal Profession. The students benefit immensely from speaking to a Judge who has so much experience with the Law."
