Application to Tollbar Sixth Form College will be by published application form to the Head of Sixth Form.
Tollbar Sixth Form College has capacity for 400 pupils across two year groups and so the admission number for entry to each year is 200 minus those pupils eligible to transfer from Year 11 at Tollbar and Cleethorpes Academies.
Tollbar Sixth Form College delivers a largely academic curriculum that is based around AS Level and A Level. In order for students to be successful on these courses it is important that they achieve academic standards that indicate that these courses would be appropriate for them. Students who would be more suited to vocational or different types of courses will be directed to relevant colleges. Across the educational institutions in North East Lincolnshire we look to provide the full range of provision to meet all our students' needs.
All students must meet the minimum entry requirements for their chosen route. As a general rule, students should be working at GCSE A*/A in the subject areas they intend to take at A Level.
Students should refer to the Tollbar Sixth Form College Prospectus for individual subject requirements and for further details. Individual subjects may be limited in the number of students they are able to accommodate. The College also reserves the right to withdraw a course if there are insufficient numbers of students wishing to take it up.
Admission to the Sixth Form will be determined by the Local Governing Body in accordance with the following criteria in the order set out below.
All students, including those already enrolled at Tollbar, Cleethorpes or Somercotes Academy, must meet the criteria below:
Students, both internal and external, will be offered a meeting before deciding their option.
The deadline for applications is 30 January of the year of admission. Late applicants will be admitted only if space remains in the Sixth Form. They should be aware that spaces may be available on a limited number of courses.
The Governors will allocate places on oversubscribed courses, to those eligible students (both internal and external) in the following priority order:
Candidates not offered a place have a right of appeal to the Multi Academy Trust.
Entry into Year 13 A2 GCE level courses is not automatic. This is assessed on the basis of the successful completion of the Year 12 courses.
